Background:
Joachim was born on April 17th 1933 in Zabrze, Germany. He was the sixth of nine children and his education was poor as he only reached grade three, with an IQ of 76. After World War II, his family moved to north Rhine because his father became a prisoner of war. Joachim moved to the free west with his mother and six of his sisters where they spent the next ten years living in two rooms.
Joachim was devastated when his mother died January 21st 1955, and it was thought to be his trigger as he killed his first victim two weeks later. He moved to Duisberg, and began working as a lavatory assistant. Kroll was known by local children as "Uncle Joachim" because of the toys, dolls and candy he kept for them in his apartment.
Joacchim died on July 1st 1991, at the age of 58 from a heart attack.
